Why are so many Realtors refusing to launch their businesses into the future by making a commitment to Social Media? Social Networking + Real Estate Industry = Big Change!

I honestly think the Real Estate business should be the Poster Child for change!   Quick –  what are 4-5 big changes you can think of right now?

We’ve seen changes to Contracts, Marketing, MLS’s, Brokerages, Short Sales, Mortgages, Associations, websites, and of course “the market!”   And Social Media has been a big part of that change!

Over the last 2 years, I’ve heard so many real estate professionals say things like; “I don’t have time for Social Networking”, “How can you get business from social media sites?”, or “I have a website, why do I need a Facebook business page?”

However… in just the past 6 months, I’ve been to 2 REbarCamp’s and a RainCamp and attendance is up!  Agents and Brokers have realized since the downturn in the industry they must use their offline real estate marketing skills through social media online.  Now, real estate pros are building their brand and generating interest in their listings though the use of online platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, ActiveRain, Trulia and Zillow. Interest is growing, Realtors® are finally recognizing the value of this new way of doing business!

So if you’ve been dabbling with Social Media and trying to understand how to implement Social Networking into your business, consider this:

• If you’re a numbers person, the statistics are staggering.

• If you’re a people person, it’s the easiest and fastest way to network with folks right in your community or across the US.

• If you’re budget conscious, it’s free!  That’s F-R-E-E!

• If you’re technology challenged, it’s much easier than you think!

The following video was created by Erik Qualman of Socialnomics in late 2009, so imagine what the numbers will be for 2010!

What are you doing to keep up with the rate of change?

In 2011, make a resolution to get on board and get started with this new way of doing business!  Call AnotherME to find how we can take you from zero to hero with Social Media.

Top 4 Ultimate Facebook Marketing Failures

Are you familiar with the myriad of ways you can commit Facebook Marketing Failures?  Facebook is a great social media marketing tool that can drive your business into the future or collapse it around your ankles if you don’t pay attention to what you are doing.

Have you botched up the way people view your business because of bad Facebook techniques? Let’s take a look at the Top 4 Ultimate Facebook Marketing Failures.

1. Fail to Create a Facebook Fan Page.
According to Susan Payton, the Managing Partner of Egg Marketing & Public Relations, an Internet marketing firm specializing in blogger outreach, social media, and PR, “If you’re a business owner, you really need to set up a Fan Page, or else you risk being left behind as more businesses shift to social networks like Facebook.” Not sure how to create a Facebook Fan Page? Here is a link to Susan’s article on Mashable.com entitled “HOW TO: Set Up a Winning Facebook Fan Page.”

2. Post a Picture of You and Your Kids as Your Profile Pic.
Why would you post a photo of your family and pets on your business Fan Page? Potential clients and businesses want to see YOU not your kids and the family pets. This should be a no-brainer.

3. Tag Indiscriminately.
This can be a dangerous tool in the hands of the indiscriminate professional. Be extremely careful who you tag and for goodness sake, take a look and see what they are doing in the photo. For example, don’t tag someone in a photo where they are picking their nose!

4. Use Bad Grammar.
It’s really tacky and bad form for a professional to post an update to Facebook and misspell words or use bad grammar. It only leaves the reader with the thought of how stupid you look. Read your updates before you post them.

Agents! End the Spin and Win!

Are you stressed…burned out? Are you juggling too many balls in the air at once? Are you starting to resemble a “Plate Spinner” from a circus act? Do you find yourself running from one project to another to keep everything moving and everyone happy? Is it getting harder and harder to maintain peak performance without dropping the ball? Do you have a clue how much your time is worth?

This economy is forcing us all to do more with fewer resources and the result is our businesses are suffering, not only from the economic downturn but from our inability to keep the plates spinning. Agents, it’s time to end the spin and win! It’s time to hire a Real Estate Virtual Assistant!

What exactly is a Real Estate Virtual Assistant?

In a nutshell, Real Estate Virtual Assistants are independent specialists who outsource their services and are only paid for the time they spend on the specific task. It appears that as the “unemployment rate” for full- or part-time assistants has increased, the “employment rate” for Virtual Assistants has increased. The reasons for this are simple…

1. You only pay for the time spent on the task. This doesn’t include bathroom or smoke breaks, lunch or any other time spent doing something else besides the job at hand.

2. Real Estate Virtual Assistants (REVAs) specialize in real estate-related functions, such as website design, social media, marketing, closing coordination, email traffic, mail-outs, drip campaigns and many other services.

3. You don’t pay for health insurance, unemployment insurance or state and federal taxes.

4. You only use a REVA when and for as long as you need them.

5. REVA’s have all of the latest technology at their disposal including computers, fax machines, scanners, etc. all at no cost to you!

Don’t wait until all your plates start crashing to the ground and your business begins to lose momentum. Call me, Patty Griffin Keller at AnotherME™ (770.414.9393), and I will be happy to answer all your questions regarding the professional and courteous services we can provide for you. In the meantime, please visit our website at AnotherME.com.
